| Afandou (18.5 km from Rhodes town)
Invisible from the sea as its name in Greece indicates for fear of pirates during the long-gone difficult times of raids, lies the village of Afandou. Afandou is one of the oldest Rhodian villages with its roots deep in history and tradition. In the square with its rubber plants are a host of coffee houses, cafes and patisseries. There are quite a few traditional stone houses.
Archangelos (28 km from Rhodes town)
The largest village on the Island, Archangelos covers a low plateau and is surrounded by the mountains Profitis Elias, Karavos and the low hills of Kefaloti, Kastro and Anagros. Keeping their traditions alive, the residents speak in dialect and have preserved the arts of their forefathers. The first houses in the village were built in 1023 at the foot of Kastro hill. In the centre of the village is the dominating Church of the Archangel Michael. Around it are picturesque lanes, traditional houses with arched passageways painted in the bright colors such as yellow, blue and green decorated with traditional plates. the atmosphere is special here. |

Faliraki (15 and 16 Km respectively from Rhodes Town)

| probably because of the plant "kolythos" or "kolytea" which flourishes in the area. Here you will find the church of the "Metamorphosis of the Savior", who's iconostasis is estimated from the 16th century.
Kolympia (25 km from Rhodes town)
This is a low profile coastal resort with scattered hotels, few restaurants and shops and a relaxed atmosphere. The entrance to the village from Evkalipton St. is impressive. A verdant street with trees whose branches almost touch the ground. The hotels are situated along the length of the pebbly beach. |

At Koskinou, a listed traditional village, the houses have retained their Rhodian character with brightly painted metal or wooden doors in shades of red, light and dark blue and green, with carvings surrounded by intricate stone walls and archways and pilasters. They are the most important sight in the village. The houses are decorated with colored ceramic plates and textiles while the courtyards and floors are covered with black and white pebbles.
Lindos (46 km from Rhodes town)
The listed village of Lindos has preserved its architectural uniqueness as well as its traditional decoration. White, boxy houses with flat roofs, imposing entrances leading into courtyards filled with flowers accessed along pebbled streets are situated around a sheltered port and lead up to the acropolis. The climb is via picturesque narrow streets on foot or on Lindos 'taxi', donkeys. The acropolis of Lindos is built on a precipitous rock soaring 116 m and dominating the village. It is a real balcony with a view over the sea. The monuments there are evidence of the power and wealth of Lindos over the ages. At Lindos Beach one can enjoy the deep blue sea. Aghios Pavlos Bay south of the acropolis is also pretty. |
